Galeri Caernarfon Cyf

Galeri Caernarfon Cyf., formerly known as Cwmni Tref Caernarfon Cyf, is a community enterprise operating as a Development Trust.

The Trust was established in 1992 to pursue social, economic and environmental projects for the benefit of the community in Caernarfon and its environs.
The development of the brand new £7.5M Galeri Creative Enterprise Centre, which opened in the town’s Victoria Dock in March 2005, has been the largest and most ambitious of the Trust’s projects to date.

The Trust is responsible for establishing and implementing other projects and schemes within the local community, including property development; the Trust has refurbished and re-developed 20 previously vacant and run down properties in Caernarfon.  The Trust is also responsible for establishing and running a successful arts project called SBARC!  This scheme provides a range of classes and workshops including performance and rock music for local children and young people.

Judges` Comments

The judges were very impressed during their visit with the Building Management System (BMS) in which Galeri Caernarfon Cyf has invested for the Galeri premises. This allows the Building Manager to control heating and air conditioning in the tenants’ offices, the bar, the theatre, and the rest of the building. The events co-ordinator informs the Building Manager the events planned for the forthcoming week and the BMS can be set to suit the timetable, and activities. Water heating is also controlled by the BMS.
