Snowdonia National Park has been in existence since 1951. Its main purposes are to: conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the area; promote opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the special qualities of the Park by the public; foster the economic and social well being of local communities within the Park.The Park Authority employs 175 staff at 15 locations.
Environmental Achievements
- Small communities project encourages the adoption and enhancement of sustainable development for voluntary groups, Community Councils, schools and other organisations.
- Staff energy and water task force has worked to encourage the implementation of rain water harvesting and the installation of PV and solar panels throughout the park.
- A comprehensive staff awareness training programme ensures a thorough understanding of sustainability and environment issues affecting the Park activities.
