Company Profile

Robust Ltd was founded in 1998, as a result of a consultancy undertaking on behalf of Nippon Electrical Glass (NEG) and began life as a bespoke metal working company before diversifying into recycling in 2003.  The company employees 9 staff at its premises on the Waun-y-pound Industrial Estate in Ebbw Vale.

Robust Ltd collects and recycles waste expanded polystyrene (EPS) into general purpose polystyrene (GPPS) bead and manufactures extrusion profiles for use in the built environment as a hardwood substitute.

Environmental Achievements

  • A product made from 80% recycled material and is itself infinitely 100% recyclable
  • Preventing 1,500 tonnes per year of EPS going to landfill as a trial, with the potential of removing EPS from the waste stream in Wales
  • Products have a longer lifespan and require less maintenance than those made from wood
