Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust is the largest in Wales and the third largest in the UK. It has an annual operating budget of over £600M, employs 13,000 staff, and provides integrated healthcare services including tertiary services on an all Wales basis.

The Trust operates from 46 sites including 9 hospitals, with 2,315 in-patient beds and 112 wards, and community-based healthcare premises such as health centres and clinics. It serves a population of over 500,000 and produces almost 4,000 tonnes of mixed waste per year.
