The North West Wales NHS Trust is a dynamic and progressive organisation that provides services for the counties of Gwynedd, Ynys Môn and parts of Conwy. It serves a population of around 225,000 people and large numbers of holidaymakers.
The Trust is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It employs around 5000 staff on 57 sites and has an annual budget of nearly £200 million.
The main site is Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor where over half of the employees work. Ysbyty Gwynedd accounts for around half of the Trust’s total waste and energy consumption. The annual energy bill is over £2 million.
Achievements
- Achieved Green Dragon Environmental Standard® Level 2 for Ysbyty Gwynedd
- Undertook a successful Energy Awareness Campaign
- Recycling Cardboard at Ysbyty Gwynedd using baler purchased with WAG grant
Future Plans
- Working towards Trust wide Green Dragon Level 3 accreditation
- Introduce energy saving schemes using the Central Energy Funds gained
- Constructing a Woodchip boiler at the new Ysbyty Alltwen site
