Trophies:

The eighteen trophies were made in South West Wales from waste glass from a major window manufacturer based in Swansea.  The waste glass cannot be reused in window manufacture and used to be recycled.  Reuse of this glass for the trophies is higher up the waste hierarchy and is therefore a carbon reduction initiative.

To produce a trophy, ten sheets of glass of varying sizes are bound together to make a usable piece that can be formed into required shapes using UV glue.  They are formed into blocks and then ground and shaped.  The water used in the process is constantly re-used and topped up.  Approximately 6 litres was used for the making of the trophies.

Sand blasting and an acrylic based paint were used for lettering and other decoration.

Energy use was estimated to be approximately 1 kWh per award.
